This Podcast will discuss some of the more prominent aspects of Spiritual Disciplines. Think of Spiritual Disciplines as the lenses that allow us to magnify and focus our attention on God, His truth, and His plan for our lives. These disciplines would include: prayer, fasting, worship, meditation to name a few.
Here are some key spiritual disciplines that are necessary as you explore God’s call on your life:
- Worship – engage mind, soul, and spirit – be sensitive to God through your worship – God is the audience of your worship
- Fasting – deny physical desire to focus on God. Experience the revelation of God’s sustaining power.
- Submission – release yourself from the need to have your own way. Submission helps us to yield to God. We must learn to submit to man first.
- Bible Study – study the teaching of Jesus and apply these teachings to our lives. Read Psalm 119:105. God will speak through the Scriptures when you read them.
- Solitude - practice of being absent from others to be present with God. Silence the external noises that interfere with hearing the voice of God.
- Prayer – simply – communicating with God – this requires both talking and listening. Romans 8:26-27 – praying in cooperation with God’s will.
