Explore the Call Episode 17: Is Ordination Important?

Some of you may be asking yourself, “If God is calling me to full-time ministry, why then would it be important to be ordained by a denomination or ministerial organization? Ordination is the formal authorization for a person to be a minister and to do ministry.

In Exodus 29, God set up ordination. In 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, God set out qualifications for ordination. Ordination is an important process that has a biblical precedence and should be taken seriously.

Here are five reasons why ordination is important:

  1. It provides accountability
  2. It provides credibility
  3. It provides opportunities
  4. It provides responsibility
  5. It provides health in the local church

As you continue to explore the call, God will help you decide whether you should be involved in ordained ministry or non-ordained ministry.
